How Do I Change the Pattern on Your Costume or Give Yourself Leopard Skin????
View the tutorial below to see how to add a pattern to a shoe. Use this same type of logic in creating a custom print for your superhero costume! If you download a background of hair, fish gills, fire, etc., you can on your clothing or body using this technique.
Want to Turn Yourself into a Plastic Action Figure?
It is super easy to do! Just click the layer you want to work on then go to FILTER (at the top of the screen) and choose FILTER GALLERY. If you look in the ARTISTIC folder, there is an effect called PLASTIC WRAP. Click it and start moving the sliders around to create a plastic effect.
Pretty cool huh?

I Have a Superhero...Now What?
Now it is time to make the cover of your video game. It must fit into an actual video game box (measure!) and look legitimate. A title, superhero, story, barcode, etc. must be included. We will do a demonstration in class to learn how to do this n PHOTOSHOP so please make sure that you attend!
Below is a recap of how to make the cover if you only have Power Point. If you haven/t downloaded PH)TOSHOP AT HOME for some reason, feel free to design it in Power Point.

Use the information HERE to discuss the type of promotion you will use to make this game become a worldwide sensation. You will present the game cover (in a real game box) along with a Power Point presentation addressing the new content that we learned. You will also make an international commercial to show, but more on that later.

So How Do I Price My Game?
Below is the Power Point shown in class regarding the product life cycle and pricing strategies. Please use it to pick a pricing strategy for your game (Remember, competition pricing is not mentioned on the PPT but you can price the game just like your competition).
START MAKING YOUR POWER POINT PRESENTATION and use my slides below to copy and paste the product life cycle into. Follow this slide with a pricing slide in which you pick a price for your game and list the 6 steps showing how you determined that price. You will look BRILLIANT to investors if you do this!

Grade 3 -Placement: Our Last P!!!
Placement is another way of saying DISTRIBUTION. After reviewing the Power Point below in class, please fill out (copy and paste) the definitions on the Word document below. Turn it into Canvas for a very easy participation grade. Feel free to work with a partner on this as it is a study guide for your last test. In fact, understand pricing strategies, steps to determining a price, distribution channels, and advantages/disadvantages of different transportation modes and you will rock the test!
You will also use this info for your PLACEMENT slide in your marketing plan. Feel free to go ahead and drop a few notes about distribution into your Power Point before you forget.

SEMESTER 1 STUDENTS WILL STOP HERE. THE DISTRIUTION COMMERCIAL WILL NOT BE MADE WHILE I AM OUT IN DECEMBER
Grade 4 - International Distribution Commercial
Check out the link regarding international hiccups that were made by companies who did not conduct proper market research for the country they were entering into. Don't let this happen to you! Be sure to research the country you are selling your game in.
Click HERE to learn from the mistakes of other companies.
Knowing that you should conduct research, now is the time to do just that! Research a country and find 3 cultural differences that would effect your marketing efforts as you sell your game. You will be making your own "fake mistake" by embedding the three cultural no-no's into a tv commercial for your game. We will discuss examples before proceeding.

4/21: Turn in Definitions and Country Notes!
1. Today you will turn in the country that you picked from the 4/20 assignment and type 5 cultural customs that are different in that country when compared to the US (it's always good to have 2 extra). Just place this info into Word and CITE YOUR SOURCES so we know it is a fact and not an opinion that you found online. You will use these to show in your offensive tv commercial.
2. Also, turn in the definitions from the 4/18 assignment into Canvas.
AND THAT'S IT! NO MORE NEW INFO FOR THE SEMESTER! WOO HOO!

Offensive Commercial
HINT HINT: freesound.org is NOT blocked at school! Go get some game sounds from there and put it on top of music for a great gaming effect!!!!
It's time to wrap this all up by making a commercial that would flop in another country. You will be provided with the requirements when we reach this point. For now, type a script for you and another person that subtly shows 3 things that would be offensive in the country that you chose. These things WOULD NOT be offensive in the US so it should be fairly hard to pick out when the class tries to guess.
COMMERICAL RUBRIC
(20 pts) 30 second commercial
(30) Show 3 no-no's
(10) Dip to black
(10) Insert music and/or sound effects
(10) Save as an mp4 file
(20) Show product at the end of video and during it!
NEED SOME INSPIRATION?
Click the button below to see some examples of game commercials that include real people (instead of just game footage).
Note: You don't have to have game footage but you can always go to You tube and search for some then convert it to an mp4 so you can import it into Premiere Pro. I use savemedia.website to convert Youtube to mp4 but there are a ton of other sites to use at home that will not be blocked.
4/28 and 4/29: Make a Presentation!
I will put a Power Point guideline for this presentation in Canvas. Follow it and you should be good! If you need a checklist of everything turned in, see the file below. Remember, this screencast presentation (which can be recorded in Power Point or on screencast-o-matic) is a uge grade so prepare yourslef to "wow" someone with your knowledge form this semester.
