Goals
Before reviewing your own goals and assessing your strengths and weaknesses, you will view an episode of Shark Tank during class time. After determining who your favorite shark is, listen to their advice given in the videos below (I will be showing 1 or 2 in class).
Why are we doing this you ask? Well, you will be creating a video about your goals and philosophy about how to become successful in the future. This will be done by creating something called an elevator pitch and it just might land you a great job in the future.

Grade 3: Elevator Pitch
After listening to the great advice of the entrepreneurs above, considering your strengths and opportunities, and creating SMART goals for yourself, it is time to put it all together in an elevator pitch. After viewing the video below, review the components of a good elevator pitch by reading this article.
Think you get the idea? If so, check out a group called "The Science of People" and watch how they assess the pros and cons of various pitches in THIS ARTICLE. If you watch the videos and read the notes, you will understand what to do in your elevator pitch when you record it.
Now, take this advice and create an outstanding elevator pitch that describes your goals and explains why somebody should hire you. You will be recording this so that you can review it and assess your verbal and non verbal communication, so make sure that you take some time to think about what you would say to somebody in an elevator if it meant that you had a chance to obtain your dream job.

Grade 4: Business Card
After you have practiced your awesome elevator pitch, it's time to try it out. When you are through speaking, be sure to give the listener your business card (yes that's still a thing) so that they have a way to get in touch with you. These can be purchased easily on vistaprint.com but we will be making one in Canva. Get creative and don't forget to include your personal logo)!

Click HERE and HERE to see some advice on how to create effective business cards. They contain tons of examples. Use the information to justify why your business card design will stand out by answering the following questions and turning it into Canvas when you turn in your card.
1. If somebody was shown 50 business cards, why would they remember yours? (this is called recall rate). In other words, what is your big WOW factor?
2. What design advice did you follow in designing your card?
3. Other than a paper business card, what could you place your business card design on?
4. What is your CTA (call to action). Hint, if you forget what a CTA is, read the design links above.
5. If yourself a grade for your design, what would it be and why?
